This is a Gold Dollar 208 straigh razor, honed with a Belgian Yellow Coticule #7 bout, that passes the HHT 4 test, and in some places on the blade a HHT 5:

Nice,

Jason, often in your vids, dont have light source behind the camera but opposite it,
makes it hard for cam to focus and so on.. You know smiling smiley

That seems like a nice razor.. smiling smiley

JSCT,
Yes, I don't have great lighting for video's in my apartment. I filmed it by the window on a sunny day, and turned on a lamp, so the light would be coming from the right side and behind me, but it still didn't help.

Yes, daylight is always strong just need to have it behind the cam whenever possible.
It wouldnt be such a deal if You wouldnt try to show a quite small detail to focus..

JSCT,
Thank you for the advice. I will play around with it some and see if I can get a better quality video. It is hard trying to show something that is very fine and small up close. Maybe I will try using my phone or tablet instead of my Chromebook.

This one is almost in focus:

Not sure I can get much better with my current setup and equipment, so I am going to stop while I am ahead.

Ofc this is hard for the cam usual devices with cheap optics may not even be able to focus it right.
But important is that the thing is sharp thumbs up

Watched them yea hard to see but there is a big difference, much better "winking smiley

Hi,
Congratulations, you got a HHT5, I seent it, maybe tongue sticking out smiley

HHT 4+ - YouTube

hair can be seen to be clipped in the 720p high resolution version towards the end of video
at first the hair is longer, then its shorter
I would call it a
HHT-5 - silent slicer: The hair falls silently as soon as it touches the edge.
although, maybe it was a HHT4 and the "pop" wasn't picked up on your microphone

the problem in this version is
you're kind of far away from camera (two foot?),

the background is not even and its dark, it doesn't provide contrast with the hair, you got dark table dark pants wrinkled shirt

the amount of light is good
hair can still be seen catching the light throughout, so shiny hair against skin it showed up

this is where a manilla folder or cardboard box to provide a backdrop comes in handy

or just orienting razor parallel to the camera so the blade itself provides contrast to overhanging hair

and if you're close to the floor, the fallen hair can be visible after it falls

HHT4 part 2 - YouTube

This is what you should be doing,
hair is visible, great contrast,
because even backdrop/white background,
close to the camera (?4-8 inches away ),
just need camera holder so camera is steady
and your hands are free to do the demo
and maybe more light like from a flashlight
so the picture is just a bit more clear

too bad no actual hht4 was performed
razor falls over and then hair is cut,
i would call it a hht4 pop,
but it doesn't count grinning smiley

HHT 4 part 3 - YouTube

razor is clamped in a vice, you can hear a "pop" after a few tries,
i would call it a HHT-4 - pop: The hair is popped immediately when it touches the edge. It still jumps away.

the problem with this version is
camera is moving in your hand,
focus keeps switching, camera focuses behind the action,

where you're holding the hair its obscured due to lack of contrast
black/brown/dark hair on black background

but you also have hair above white receipt paper provides contrast
which is visible even when moving camera goes out of focus

So to review,
- use a stand so the camera doesn't move, a smartphone tripod (99only) or charging dock (dollartree),
- contrasting backdrop, manilla folder or cardboard box, allows hair to be visible, helps camera focus
- get close, 4-8 inch or as close as you can get and get the camera to focus on the action
- more photons, add some strong light off to the side or from the side, a flashlight or two comes in handy for this
- binder clips to prop the blade up, free both hands
- once you figure it out, save the setup for repeatability, trying to figure it out each time you have something to film takes too much time

____
Thanks
I don't mow smiling smiley
