HAIDU - SiC sharpening stones from Hungary

Ceramic bonded SiC stones up to 6000 JIS / 1500 FEPA, which is rear. I know about the russian "gritomatic" stones sold in the USA.

Plenty of sizes.

Mine is from their HCJ line with size 158х40х15 mm - one long site is rounded.

Mine test sample is 600 FEPA / 1200 JIS = 13 microns +/-.

[haidu.hu]

Medium hard to hard stones, Does not shed grit. raising a slurry can be achieved by diamond plate.

5 to 10 minute require time of soaking before use.

Easy to surface clean with a spray bottle but after extensive use loose grit, specialty stone or diamond plate is necessary.

Works fast with common SS up to 60 HRc.

I will see in the future about CPM steels.

I am waiting for a 1200 FEPA / 4000 JIS sample.

If they perform solid on CPM steel I will jump to the 8 inch stones in 400/1000/1500 FEPA - 700/2600/6000 JIS for comparison with Al2O3 japanese stones in equivalent grits.

Some short clips of testing.

I like that one side is rounded...that'd be nice for recurves.

Already tried it on a CS karambit - it works like a charm.

They look like good stones, I'd like to get my hands on a few of them and try them out. I went to their website but couldn't find a purchasing area.

Hard, breef soak (sub 5 minutes for the 1200 FEPA grit) and almost splash and go for the 1500 FEPA one, which is SiC not their Al2Ox3 versions.
Quick load up. The manufacturer sells two grits cleaning stones with decent size and low price.
I raise a slurry with DMT coarse and fine - makes the whole sharpening process quicker and easier to clean afterwards.
Decent polishing capabilities for SiC stones.
The smaller size requires more balde/hand control not to grind on the edges so chamfering is important.

Can be used as microbelevers - no problem at all.

Set of 158x38x15 mm size FEPA 400, 600, 1000, 1200, 1500 /700 to 6000 JIS/ + the two cleaning stones can be bought for around 70 euros I believe this is sub 100$ US .

For now I am missing the 400 and 1 000 grit, but soon the set will be complete.

The cleaning stones are must have for such hard ceramic stones...
